Party like it's... National Pollinator Week!
Five years ago, the U.S. Senate designated National Pollinator Week at the end of June. This year, National Pollinator Week is June 18-24, and we're excited to celebrate the work of bees and other pollinators alongside beekeepers associations and the Pollinator Partnership during the 6th annual event.
This year, the Missouri Department of Agriculture launched The Great Missouri Buzz Off to raise awareness of the role bees play in agriculture. We've added a colony of bees to our Growing Together Garden, partnered with the Saint Louis Zoo and the Missouri Botanical Garden (which are also home to colonies), and we're bringing new information to AgriMissouri.com to help Missourians learn more about bees. We've also added a custom bee hive display to our lobby, as shown in the photo (right). Thank you to Ozark Cedar Hives and Dr. Hagler for bringing this to the George Washington Carver Building!
So, whether you want to pollinate your fruits and vegetables, experience the sweet reward of honey, dabble in beekeeping or join the ranks of professional beekeepers, bees and The Great Missouri Buzz Off will assist you along the way. So get out there – and get your buzzz on alongside our team on http://agrimissouri.com/the-great-missouri-buzz-off/.
