Last week, we had the opportunity to visit Missouri's bootheel for the annual Delta Days field day at the University of Missouri's Delta Research Center outside Portageville. In addition to the outstanding sessions on the latest plant science research, from weed control to genetics, Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler had the opportunity to visit with a group of agriculture students from Southeast Missouri State University's campus in Kennett. The students represented majors from soil, plant and animal sciences to agriculture business.
The students were led by their professor, Dr. Julie Weathers, and came prepared with plenty of questions for Dr. Hagler about careers in agriculture and opportunities for them to use their degrees in their southeast Missouri and southern Illinois hometowns.
Thank you to the teams at the University of Missouri and Southeast Missouri State University for helping make this outstanding event possible again for 2012!
